In the late 18th century, settlers began arriving, including Michael Hare who
claimed and was given the land by the U.S. Government.  Hare built a log
cabin for his home a mile north of the current city, on what is now known as
Hare Creek.  The early 19th century brought in the railroad the greatly
contributed to the growth of Corry.  The Atlantic and Great Western Railroad
intersected the Sunbury & Erie Railroad at a spot called Junction, which was
owned by Hiram Cory, where the name of the city is derived from.
The city, which is spread over 6.1 square miles, has 2,660
households and a total population of 6,834.  $30,967 is the
medium income for a household inthe city of Corry, while the
median income for a family is $35,375.  For the city, the per capita
income is $15,143.  Demographically, 98.19% of the city is White.  
African Americans make up 0.29%, while 0.16% is Asian.
